My response was to create a tool that educates and makes the overall process of helping the environment easier. I chose to focus on fashion. With 'fast fashion' being one of the industry's biggest issues, I wanted to find a way that people could be encouraged to fall in love with their wardrobe again. The app would mainly work as a social media platform with an implemented AI. As you add to your wardrobe, you will be rewarded by growing a digital plant. The AI learns what your clothes look like and suggests outfits based on what you already own. You can then post your sustainable outfits or send them to your friends. All while giving you up to date tips, tricks and information about your environmental impact and ways of making life easier.
I began this project with the idea of creating a dynamic logo that could transform into a variety of different icons and shapes. I broke it down to a singular line that could break apart and transform. The branding has been designed to be bright, bold and punchy, to be perceived as modern, clean and the best of the best.
In my lifetime I have never seen someone my age pay for a magazine. I wasn't sure if this was because of the lack of appeal or some other reason. When asked to make a magazine, I wanted to find out why this was the case. I performed a survey and found that young people generally find all their information online and that they have no interest in "paying for a bunch of ads". This led me to create a collectable magazine which could link with the digital world. Listen while you read.
As a kid, I always loved books wherein you could explore the adventure of the writer. The books have flaps you can open and random objects stuck in. I collected all of Dugald Steer's 'ology' books because they felt like you could do this. I wanted to create something for Ball and Doggett that allowed younger generations that are detached from the page, to connect again. In this digital collection, you may not be able to feel every page, but with the high contrast of texture and people's stories, the reader can instead experience the emotions.
